Description of Craft Role
The water crafts are designed to provide a transfer facility from the LPA (Landing Platform Amphibious), they have two roles as such which are

Primary Role
The primary role of the LPA Watercraft System is to provide the LPAs with the ability to transfer vehicles, equipment, stores and personnel from ship to shore and return.

Secondary Role
The secondary role of the LPA Watercraft System is to support tactical mobility of land forces and sustainment of forces ashore independent of the LPA.

Accommodation
Given the moderate range and endurance of the vessel the facilities
provided for the crew are basic, but adequate for the needs.
It should be noted that all the craft exhibit an extremely high
standard of crew accommodation.
Cabin accommodation for the four crew consists of two double tier
bunks with a locker facility dividing. Combination fridge /freezer provide
food storage for the limited duration voyages. All vessels were found to
be inn exceptionally clean condition.

Engine room & machinery spaces :
The engine rooms are very well fitted out.

Main engines 2x Detroit series 60  : Rated at 440kW
Generally the running hours are very low in the service operation of these
engines, they do however vary between the craft in that some have
had very little time at sea- less than 300 hours.

Auxiliary engines :
Auxiliary engines 2 x Caterpillar 3054 : Rated @ 35kW
Similarly the auxiliary engines have very low running hours and would be
considered to be in good condition.
The engine rooms were all found to be in very good condition.
The electrical lay out and reticulation of wiring was of a very high order, the
switchboard below illustrating the compactness of the fully EO Class designation.
