Life Saving Equipment

cradles for quick sideway launching manually and automatic hydrostatic release.

Lifebuoys : Ten (10) lifebuoys of PVC construction:
Six (6) lifebuoys with 90ft buoyancy line
Four (4) lifebuoys with 90ft buoyancy line and self-igniting electric lights, two (2)
smoke signal of the latter.

Lifejackets : Twenty-five (25) approved type lifejackets to be supplied and stowed adjacent to each
berth. Spare jackets: 6 in no. are to be provided. Maker: Solas Approved Type.

Pyrotechnics : Four (4) set self-contained units of line throwing apparatus.
Twelve (12) parachute distress rockets.
Six (6) hand flare
Two (2) orange smoke signals each to have 120 seconds discharge time and be
waterproof. Maker: Comet or equal.

Medical Kit : Two (2) medical kits

Fire fighting Equipment
Fire fighting equipment is to be provided to meet classification and government regulations and
generally in accordance with the following:

Firemain : A firemain and five (5) 1 1/2" bronze hydrants installed, three (3) on various
deck levels and two (2) in engine room. 15M canvas fire hose c/w brass coupling and
nozzle is to be supplied and stowed alongside each hydrant in a protective box.
All hose, hose fittings, nozzles & hydrants to be international standard. International
shore connection is to be fitted.

Fireman's Outfit : Two (2) complete set of fireman's outfit
One (1) aluminium protective clothing
One (1) breathing apparatus oxygen tank & mask

Two (2) VHF radiotelephones capable of general radio communication and transmitting
and receiving DSC distress alerts on Ch. 70 and radio telephony on Ch. 6, 13 and 16.
Equipment shall be suitable for DC 24 volt operation.

(b) Radar Transponder (SART)
One (1) search and rescue radar transponders capable of operating in the 9 GHZ band.

(c) Navtex Receiver
One (1) Navtex Receiver capable of receiving co-ordinated broadcast and automatic
reception on 518 kHz of maritime safety information. Equipment shall be suitable for DC
24 Volt operation.

(d) Satellite EPIRB
One (1) Satellite Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) capable of
transmitting a distress alert through the polar orbiting satellite service operating in the
406MHz / 1.6GHZ bands.

(e) MF/HF Radiotelephone with DSC watch receiver
One (1) MF/HF Radiotelephone capable of general radio communication and
transmitting and receiving distress and safety communications on all distress and safety
frequencies in the bands between 1.6 to 27.5 kHz using DSC, radiotelephony and narrow
band direct printing telegraphy (MBDP). Equipment shall be suitable for 230/1/50 and
DC 24 volts operation.

(f) VHF Handheld Radiotelephones
Two (2) two-way VHF handheld radiotelephones c/w charger, Lithium batteries and
chargeable batteries shall be provided I.S. Type.

2) Echo Sounder
One (1) echo sounder, Furuno or equal with paper recorder and digital readout for 24V
DC supply or equal type.

3) Radar
One (1) radar, Furuno or equal bright displace, DC24 Volt supply c/w reflection plotter facility.

5) PA System
A public addressing (PA) system to be provided and installed as follows:
(a) Wheelhouse - Master Control Station
(b) Officers Mess Room - Bulkhead mounted PA
