Standard casing shoes are guides for the casing with a conduit to allow circulation. They are not interactive and not designed for other functions

Standard shoes have none of the features of SRS Tool:

No Agitation of fill
No Cutting Edges on the nose and OD for breaking ledges and reaming irregularities

No Rotation to by-pass hard obstructions
No Slanted profile to negotiate dog legs, and avoid ledges, and to dip into the fill on bottom to agitate it and circulate it out if circulation is established.

The SRS Principle:

The SRS is connected to the casing as a standard shoe; the SRS Tool comes with a fixed helical mandrel attached to a casing joint which connects to the casing string, around which the lower tool body rotates.

Hydraulic pressure (13 psi only) is used to extend the lower tool’s body along the mandrel into an open position. By the casing taking weight from obstruction, a setting weight reaches the SRS tool, the lower tool body rotates along the mandrel, creating rotation at the bit. Once the tool is fully closed, lifting the casing string only three ft (for the 7” liner and 5 ft for the 9 5/8” casing string) creates counter-clockwise rotation - returning the tool to the open position.

Casing Pilot: With a pronounced taper to maximize deflection for use when doglegs and ledges are expected

Bridge Breaker Bit: To use against sloughing shale/bridging

Negotiator Bit: Provides agitation of fill using carbide tipped blades to provide penetration and deliver stirring power

Slider Bit: Eccentric Bit. Designed for Ledges, Washouts & Doglegs and has features of Dynamic profile with Multiple Angled Faces to find the centre of the hole and continue along the Bit path

Rhino Bit: Eccentric Bit. Designed for Ledges, Washouts & Dog legs and is capable of acting like a reamer for swelling Shales & Sluffing formations.

SRS Casing Bit:

The bronze blades are coated with tungsten carbide clusters to increase cutting ability. The whole bit is made of bronze also.

The OD body of the bit is inset with tungsten carbide buttons to minimize the effects of wear on the bit OD.

For an optimum drill out of the SRS tool, the bronze bit and mandrel lock together with a lock off mechanism to prevent bit’s rotation when drilling it out.

Mini SRS:

A mechanically-aligning eccentric casing guide shoe.

Utilizes mechanical rotation to align the bit.

Navigates Doglegs and Ledges.

Eccentric Bit design will probe ahead to find the open hole, allowing the string to move past the ledge, washout, or dogleg & continue along the bit path.

Low cost

Spring Actuated Reamer:

This variation is needed when it is not possible to use mud pumps to open the Smart Reamer- as in slotted liners.

A high tensile steel spring is used to open back the tool when the weight is released

Also useful when running multistage packers system such as Packers Plus, where there are concerns of pressure spikes due to fill accumulating in front of a standard casing shoe which can the cause the packers to set prematurely.

The Spring Actuated tool is not PDC drillable due to the steel components and spring.
