The 750 Series Drilling Rig has proven itself to be fast moving reliable rig of simple and rugged construction. It is available in the following forms: A self propelled mechanical drive rig; a split trailer mechanical drive rig; a split trailer electric drive rig.
As a self propelled mechanical drive rig, the Model 2042 drawworks, telescoping mast, oil bath chain case elevated ratary drive and two engine rig power are unitized into one self propelled rig load.
As a split trailer mechanical drive rig, the drawworks and two engine rig power are mounted on one trailer and the telescoping mast and oil bath chain case elevated rotary drive are mounted on a second trailer. The two trailer design accomplishes package weight control where permit limits may cause problems.
As an electric rig, an electric drive drawworks group has been developed using one 700 HP traction motor for both single and double drum drawworks and for the rotary drive. The drawworks, motor and hydraulic power unit are mounted in one self propelled package.
Both of the rig arrangements above are combined with a rig base and selection of single piece or multiple piece substractions to complete the rig. This rig in conjuction with single load mud pump pacakages with independent power results in an extremely flexible arrangement.
Mechanical Drive Arrangement
Power - Two engines (any make) totaling upto 700 HP at 2100 RPM. The side-by-side engines are high mounted for easy accessibility and maintenance. Either or both engines can be used for hoisting, rotary or roading operations.
Torque Converters - Two torque converters individually matched to engines provide maximum output power for single or two engine operation at full load or part load. Lockup feature in each converter for maximum efficiency.
Transmissions - Allision HT 750 DR,unitized with torque converters. Five forward speeds. Finger tip selection at driller's console with full load shift capability allows maximum flexibility of power application to job at hand.
Compound - v-Type roller chain compound in pressure lubricated oil bath case. Each engine can be disconnected in compound. Integral gear tranfer chase for vehicle drive.
Drawworks - Model 2042 drawworks with 19 5/8" diameter drum barrel 40" long. 12" x 42" circulating water cooled brake rims with full Wrap, single point adjusted, fully equalized brake bands. The easy access outboard drum cluch generates 40,000# single line pull. Paramac 202 single rotor brake assist with positive action clutch.
Catworks - Hydraulic catworks, including breakout cylinder, spinning and make-up cylinder and planeatary gear, self-locking handling winch for smooth, safer catheading operations.
Drawworks Drive - Heavy-duty propeller shaft through Model 600 right-angle gear box.
Rotary Drive - Propeller shaft via full air rotary clutch, heavy duty reverse gear box and oil bath roller chain elevated rotary drive unitized on back face of mast. Simple propeller shaft connection at rig-up and rig-down. Nominal max. rotary speed-300 RPM. Nominal working table torque - 30,000 ft. lbs.
Carrier - Mechanical drive rig provided with six axle triple front, triple rear 134,000# capacity carrier. Designed to meet highway safety standards with necessary toughness for off highway operations.
Electric Drive Arrangement The 750E Series rig is designed as an SCR electric powered rig. One GE 761 (or equivalent) 700HP traction motor provides power to both the drawworks and the rotary. The drawworks drive is a two speed high/low drum clutch arrangement. An optional sand drum assembly may be mounted in the drawworks group. The rotary drive is taken from the drawworks drive via a Model 600 right angle gear box. The full air rotary clutch is mounted on a right angle drive output shaft. A propeller shaft drive and oil bath roller chain elevated drive mounted on the back face of the mast complete the rotary drive. Features common to both mechanical and electrical drive Mast - 112'300,000# API-rated telescoping mast. Dual ram hydraulically raised and extended. Tubular construcion offering maximum rigidity and capability to withstand abuse. Patented pawl mechanism assuring positive transfer of load from upper to lower section. Deep mast sections for maximum torsional stability. Heavy-duty rigid racking board with side-mounted fingers provided with finger safety locks. Load guylines to engine end of carrier.
Trailer - The mechanical drive and electrical drive arrangement of the 750 Series rig are both available as trailer type rigs or split rig arrangement.
Substructure - Choice of T-Type telescoping substructure with derrick base and rig base or stacked fixed height substructure with setback cross base and derrick cross base. 15' high structure. Either type provides wind guy anchorage eliminating external wind guy anchors.
Hydraulic Power - 35 GPM 2500 psi max. pressure system. Provided by either of two pumps, one belt driven from front of each engine.
