Hydraulic Arrangement
Hydraulic Systems The hydraulic transmission will be designed for optimum performance within the constraint of available horsepower. High pressure hydraulic system uses power more efficiently and applies power as needed.
All motions controls offer infinitely variable speed and full reversing characteristics. Two full flow filters will be installed. The filter(s) will be adequately sized for full flow operation without causing pump cavitation. Replaceable wire mesh filter cartridge of minimum absolute value of 40 micron will be used. The pumps will have overflow suction independent of the reservoir, and the arrangement of piping can avoid air pockets.
Hoisting Circuit Each winch is driven by a common open loop hydraulic system including piston pump, piston motor and epicycles gearbox. Each winch is fitted with oil immersed, multi-disc and dynamically rated “fail safe” brake.
The fixed displacement hoist motors offer a constant operating speed.
Slewing Circuit The slew circuit is driven by a common open loop hydraulic system. Dynamic braking of slewing is by means of hydrostatic compensation. Similarly positive locking brakes are fitted in the circuit and used as static brake
Luffing Circuit Luff circuit is driven by a common open loop hydraulic system. Each winch is fitted with oil immersed, multi-disc, dynamically rated “fail safe” brake. An additional luff ratchet cylinder is included, providing a positive means of locking the luff drum whenever the prime mover is shutdown.
Hydraulic Piping 1. Pipes: No pipe threads will be used for the high-pressure lines larger than 3/8". Hydraulic components that have pipe threaded ports lines will have a minimum working pressure 300PS. . 2. Pipe fittings: Zinc plated mild steel material. General The platform is supported by four 75" diameter spud legs, each one individually operated by four synchronized hydraulic cylinders mounted in heavy duty spudwell. Specific capacity of each spudwell is 600 ton. Spuds are delivered including two spud joints, separating the spud in three parts for ease of transportation.
The platform consists of a number of standardized floating modules coupled together through a male pin/ female connection system. Modules are sized to be easily transportable by road, train or ship. Specific deck point load of each module is 15 ton/sqm.
Due to its modular design, overall dimensions can be adapted to customer needs.
Jacking System The jacking mechanism consists of two hydraulically operated crossheads per spudwell, to lock and unlock the spud from vertical movement. Vertical movement is accomplished by 4 hydraulic heavy duty cylinders with a stroke 1.2m working on an operating pressure of 140 bar.
The four spudwells are powered by a containerized hydraulic power pack, for simultaneously lifting and lowering the spud legs through its seating. The power packs are silenced with two 244kW radiator cooled diesel engine driving a flywheel mounted tandem pump.
A Central Control System built in a Central deck house operates the hydraulic control valves for synchronous lifting, with spare hydraulic connectors for either emergency use or for further use of hydraulic powered deck equipment, like winches / cranes etc.
